Every day Hospice staff Go the Extra Mile to help support patients living with a life-limiting illness and those who matter most to them.
In 2020, we supported;
Throughout June, we are asking supporters to be creative and Go the Extra Mile with a play on 30 and help us celebrate 30 years of great community care;
Looking for some ideas to do during the month of June – check out our suggestions below;
Flex those biceps and challenge yourself to do 30 press-ups a day or aim to achieve 30 press-ups in on go at the end of the 30 day challenge
Swim 30 lengths a day for 30 days
For the leg and glute lovers out there, can you do 30 squats a day
Read a book for 30 minutes a day
Strengthen those ab muscles with a 30 second plank every day or for those – can you increase this to a 3 minute hold by the end of the 30 days?
Bike 30km a day for 30 days
Bike 300 km or miles in 30 days
Run every day for 30 days (set yourself a 30-day total or set miles/km each day)
Can you climb the stairs in your house 30 times a day for 30 days
Walk 3 miles a day for 30 days
Can you give something up for 30 days – sweet things, bread, alcohol
How about keeping it fresh and doing a different challenge each day – 30 for 30

the brain is beneficial for both your mind and body.
Over the last 30 years our yearly patients figures have greatly increased from 6 to 758 and so too has the cost to provide the services of the Hospice, by supporting us, you can ensure we are there to support patients and their loved ones for the next 30 years.
None of us know what the next thirty years will hold, but we need to make sure that we can still be here to support anyone in our local community who needs our support, with your continued help we can do this.
This is a virtual event so you can take part wherever you are – even in your garden or home.

Every supporter registered receives his or her Go the Extra Mile 30 Challenge Finishers Medal and certificate.
You will also receive your FREE limited edition Hospice Anniversary Tech T- shirt for adults and FREE EGNI admission voucher for children.
You will also receive your FREE Hospice of the Valleys Buff and FREE entry into our prize draw for Afternoon Tea for Two.

Sponsorship must be raised and received by the Hospice by 10th July to receive your fundraising prizes.
The more you raise, the more prizes and FREE entries into prize draws you’ll receive.
We’ll be with you virtually cheering you on every mile of the way!
Anyone over the age 18 years of age is able to take part and register themselves.
We also welcome our younger supporters (under 18’s) to join in. A parent/guardian must complete the registration form, providing consent to take part in the challenge and all under 16’s must be supervised by a paying parent/guardian over the age of 18 years.

Sign up to the Go the Extra Mile 30 Challenge by clicking on Sign Me Up (below) – pick your distance. You will receive an email welcome pack.
Set up your fundraising page by linking to the Hospice of the Valleys Go the Extra Mile 30 Challenge Campaign on Just Giving.
Just Giving now allows you to link your strava to your just giving page – how to do this can be found on the Just Giving Page.
Record your mileage on your Go the Extra Mile 30 Challenge Card and once you have completed your distance either email it to firstname.lastname@example.org of post it to the office.
During your challenge send us your photos – we love to see our supporters getting involved and everyone loves to take a selfie these days.

Once you have completed your distance (and the Hospice has all the evidence) and your sponsorship has been raised and received by 10th July, we will send out your well-deserved finisher’s medal, certificate and fundraising prizes as outlined above.
