Charity Shop Volunteers
The Hospice currently has 5 shops, run by volunteers in Ebbw Vale, Tredegar, Brynmawr, Abertillery and Blaenavon.
Shop volunteers are responsible for the day to day running of the shops; serving customers, taking and sorting donations, keeping the shop stocked and ensuring it is clean and tidy.
We have a busy reception area at the Hospice’s main office. Volunteers will be the first point of contact at reception and meet and greet all visitors and guests to the office with a professional and confident manner.
Regular fundraising events are held by the Hospice and we always need people to help with publicising events by distributing posters and fliers, assisting in the organisation or helping out on the day of the event.
Some volunteers act as marshals, help with car parking or registration or by running fundraising stalls. We also need volunteers to help with regular supermarket or street collections and helping with fundraising mail outs and office work
The support offered by Befrienders provides an opportunity for people living with a life-limiting illness and their carers to receive support, a break for carers, support to enable the individual to access community venues, events also hospital appointments and stays.
Hospice vans drivers & assistants collect donated furniture and clothing from homes around Blaenau Gwent and deliver it to our charity shops. They also deliver items sold from the shops to the customer’s home. The work is physical and a good degree of fitness is necessary for this work.
