This summer, we invite you to join our blossoming celebration of life, Forever in Bloom, this is a continuation of last year’s very successful campaign.

Forever in Bloom provides a unique opportunity for everyone to celebrate and remember the lives of those loved ones we miss and cherish.

Dedicate a Daffodil to honour the life of a loved one and join us for our annual flower display, commemorative event, and activity day at Bedwellty House and Park from Friday 10 July – Sunday 12 July.

2026: The year of the Daffodil

2026 is the year of the Daffodil. A flower that symbolises new beginnings, hope, joy and resilience.

When you dedicate a Daffodil in memory of a loved one, it will join hundreds of others to form part of a touching display, set within the beautiful grounds of Bedwellty House and Park in Tredegar, between 10 – 12 July 2026.

On the final day of the display weekend, there will be a family-friendly day of celebration and remembrance, including family activities from 11am, and a poignant, commemorative event with live music and entertainment, which will start at 1pm in the bandstand.

For those who have purchased Daffodil’s they can be collected from 2:15pm onwards, after the event, and taken home to display in a special place.

We really hope you’ll join us for this year’s event.

If you have any questions about how to purchase a Daffodil or the event, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the fundraising team on 01495 717277 (option 2) or email fundraising@hospiceofthevalleys.com

  • The Daffodil display and event will take place at Bedwellty House and Park, Tredegar, NP22 3XN

  • Both are free to attend

  • For those who have purchased a Daffodil, you can collect them from the display after 2:15pm, following the event.

    Wayne’s story

Wayne was a fit, healthy and hard working family man who loved fishing, especially with his two sons, when they were younger. Bev and Wayne looked forward to retiring, travelling, and one day living by the sea.

In March 2023, Wayne was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney and spine. In the months before, he had been feeling tired, low in mood and had pain, in his shoulder. At first, the family thought this was linked to a recent bereavement and the pressures of working on the family home. After Bev encouraged Wayne to see the GP, they received the devastating diagnosis.

Wayne found it difficult to accept that he was ill and was unsure about receiving support at first. With time and reassurance, he began to access hospice support. He found comfort in Reiki sessions and valued the opportunity to talk with members of the clinical team.

The hospice was there not only for Wayne, but also for Bev and their two sons. Bev describes The hospice team were my lifeline. They were at the end of the phone with guidance, practical advice and support whenever I needed them, which was regularly. I was able to offload and this eased a great deal of the pressure.”

Wayne sadly died at home on 29 September 2023. Support for Bev continued, particularly as her mam Anita, who lived with her, was also living with dementia. Bev attended the hospice bereavement group and the CARIAD carers group, where she found understanding, connection and ongoing support.

As part of Forever in Bloom this year Bev shares Wayne’s story to remember and celebrate his life but also to encourage others to seek support.

“I would say to anyone – contact the hospice as soon after diagnosis as you can, as they offer so much more than end of life support. I really don’t know where I would be without them. We need to spread awareness of all the services they offer and raise much needed funds, so they can continue to support families like mine in Blaenau Gwent in their time of need”.

At Hospice of the Valleys, we truly understand how it can feel when a loved one dies. Providing people with a means to remember, talk about, and celebrate the lives of those loved ones is an important part of the work we do.

We really hope you will be able to join Bev and many others to be part of our special Forever in Bloom celebration this summer.
