A TALE OF GRAPHIC IMPROVEMENTS

It has been my aspiration to improve the look of our Ebbw Vale store for several years. As the largest store across our shop network, it attracts the greatest number of customers and supporters and I knew that we had to ensure everybody that came into the store left with a really positive impression of what the Hospice of the Valleys does.
The official re-launch of the store took place on Friday 3rd November. We were delighted that Ellie Tetley, who won Hospice UK Young Volunteer of the Year 2016 agreed to open the store for us. It was wonderful to welcome regular and new customers into the store and it was wonderful to hear the positive feedback.

New Chief Executive, Grant Usmar

I began work as CEO of Hospice of the Valleys in September 2017. My initial period in post has been something of a whirlwind of meeting a lot of people and building up a picture of how the hospice works internally and how it connects with the local community and other local and national organisations. I have also spent time meeting some of the patients and families who have benefitted directly from the services Hospice of the Valleys provides.

Trudi Gillard

Trudi Gillard has been a patient with the Hospice of the Valleys for more than three years – and she and her family are incredibly grateful for the help that they have received.

Mostly Mrs Gillard, who suffers from advanced lung disease, has been looked after by the community nursing team, at her Abertillery home.

“I joined Hospice of the Valleys in 2010 to take up 2 very different roles – one was Clinical Services Director, but I was also the Hospices’ first ever Specialist Physiotherapist with just 1 day a week to work clinically with patients and their families.”
