Working from home can present many challenges, this is especially difficult when your job involves providing Complimentary Therapy to our Hospice patients, however, at Mat explains he has been able to overcome this with some creative thinking…….
My first week working as a complementary therapist ‘remotely’
I must admit, I wasn’t sure how things were going to pan out – however my first week working from home has been a positive experience and very productive too.
One of the highlights has been spending some quality time on the telephone with a patient that I have been working with for a couple of weeks face to face but being able to maintain that all important continuity via the phone was invaluable – I was able to listen to her concerns – offer support and we even conducted a relaxation session over the telephone.
She stated that she felt calmer, less anxious and I could tell that her breathing had certainly improved and become easier too…
Great day all-round – patients and carers have benefitted from the contact and it’s been great from my perspective – knowing that I have made a difference albeit from 35 miles away in Cardiff!
