So, dig out your best fancy dress, drag along the rest of your family and friends and enjoy the day. Expect a vibrant atmosphere and loads of support from the crowd.

Fun Run

Time: 11:40am

What’s Involved: A fun 2.4K race for all the family, with no pressure on setting fast times or running all the way around. Accompanying adults welcome! (and required to run with all children under 8)

What’s Included: Chip timing, medal and finisher’s t-shirt. Please note that finishers t-shirts are only available for children.

Accompanying Adults: Those who do not wish to receive a finishers medal or official finish time may purchase a cheaper ‘accompanying adult’ entry for just £3.  Adults are welcome to take part but must register through the official Cardiff Half Junior platform, more detail can be found here

The Hospice is excited to be able to offer 10 children’s spaces in the Junior Fun Run for the first time this year.

Help us by fundraising to continue to provide the exceptional care and support to patients and their loved ones who need it most in Blaenau Gwent.

The Hospice has to pay for every charity space at a cost of £35.00 and is why we have had to introduce a £5 registration fee and ask our junior runners to raise a minimum of £75 sponsorship and of course you don’t have to stop there!  We will support you every step of the way with your fundraising.

Please note registration fee is non refundable under any circumstances including but not limited to illness, injury, holidays and also including if the organisers of Cardiff Half cancel or postpone the event.  Please ensure you read the Hospice Terms and Conditions.

To claim your charity space, click on the Im in! button below and complete our Hospice form.  Once you have submitted this form please check your emails for a reply from the Hospice with further information on what to do next.

If we can help in anyway, please contact Amanda by emailing fundraising@hospiceofthevalleys.com or by calling 01495 717277

Reasons to do it…

There are many reasons to run the Cardiff Half Junior Fun Run for Hospice of the Valleys – whether it’s in memory of a loved one, because you, a family or friend has received support from the Hospice, to push and challenge yourself or simply because you need somewhere to wear your costume…What are you waiting for?

Ricky kindly shared why he and his family decided to take part in Cardiff Half for the Hospice.

“On the 13th of August 2018 my world fell apart when my dad (Dean) was officially diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer at the age of 49.  He fought his hardest for six months, but even he wasn’t strong enough to beat it! On January 8th 2019, just eight days before his 50th birthday, Dad sadly passed away.

From start to finish, day or night, the Hospice of the Valleys were there to support Dad and ease his pain. The gratitude we as a family have for the Hospice can’t be said in a thank you. No one realises just know how much they actually do for you, until you experience something as traumatic yourself.

Running the Cardiff half marathon together, gave us something to focus on and work towards, whilst still grieving the death of Dad. At the beginning, running as little as 3 miles for any of us was a challenge, so 13.1 miles sounded crazy!

However, after months of hard work and determination, the training finally paid off when we crossed that finish line! I know that Dad would have been proud of us all. Together we have raised money for a wonderful charity. Thank you from the bottom our hearts”

Thank you from everyone here at the Hospice.
