Meet Emma, she is one of the Hospice’s Advanced Clinical Practitioner and has recently completed her Masters, receiving a non-medical prescribing qualification.

Emma primarily works at Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan (YAB) and is the link there for any Hospice patients that have been admitted to hospital.  Emma supports those patients who require palliative and also end of life care.  She works alongside her colleagues within the Hospital to make sure patients are pain and symptom free, so they can live as well a possible with their conditions.

The qualification Emma has achieved will further equip her with advanced physical assessment skills to assess and treat patients in a safe manner and provides an opportunity for Hospice of the Valleys patients to receive timely care without a delay in receiving palliative care and treatment.

Emma is able to use her clinical judgement based on assessment diagnosis and the ability to interpret test results to evaluate her patients.  This enables her to refer to specialist teams to ensure the patient receives the most appropriate care and outcome.

Congratulations Emma on your achievement we are all delighted and absolutely proud of you and the difference you make to so many people’s lives.

At the Hospice we continue to strive to invest in our staff across the organisation to make sure they are equipped with the skills required to provide the best support for our patients and their families.  We are also constantly working with other partnership organisations with patient care is at the heart of everything we do.

We are very proud of all of the teams here at the Hospice as we continue to work in very challenging and ever changing times.
