Hospice Big Camp Out – Camp out and Help Keep Patients Out!

Whilst we have not been able to go on holidays or camping to our favourite site, we thought we’d bring camping to you!

Join the Hospice Big Camp Out this Whitsun bank holiday.

Why not dig the tent out and pitch it in the garden, or build a tepee with some poles and sheets?

Don’t have a garden or yours isn’t big enough….?

Don’t fret, why not bring your camp indoors.  Pitch up a small tent or drape sheets around furniture to create your very own indoor tent.

While camping in your own home for free, we are asking people to donate what you would have spent on a night’s pitch fee or some of the fee to the Hospice of the Valleys.

Whether that’s £5.00 or £25.00, your donation will truly help to make a difference right now to patients living with a life limiting illness, their carers and families.

Some great camping ideas for the young at heart and younger ones!

• Set up camp, why not have a theme like Indians
• Do a scavenger or treasure hunt – hide things in the garden/house or list things that you can find around the garden and house
• Have some delicious camping treats like marshmallows
• Who doesn’t enjoy a BBQ? Oh and toast those marshmallows afterwards – yum!
• Play some family-friendly games like giant jenga, who can hula hoop the longest, snakes and ladders, Frisbee
• Pack your favour drinks – children and adults
• Scouts like camping, they also love tying knots – just don’t get your knickers in a knot
• Hang up some fairy lights or simple string lights
• Classic sing along songs – what’s your favour camp song….Kumbaya My Lord, or tell some stories
• Finish the night off with some stargazing – see if you can see the Milky Way, no, not the one in the kitchen!

Our amazing Hospice at Home team are helping to protect the NHS by caring for our patients in their own homes and helping avoid hospital admission where they can be.

It typically costs £150.00 for a member of Hospice at Home staff to provide care and support during the night which also enables the patient’s carer and family to grab a night’s sleep – we would love to be able to support 7 night shifts with this campaign and have set a target of £1,050.00

PLEASE REMEMBER THE BIG CAMP OUT MUST TAKE PLACE WITHIN YOUR OWN GARDEN OR HOME AND MUST ONLY BE WITH FAMILY MEMBERS FROM YOUR OWN HOUSEHOLD.
