What do you think you have learned as a Hospice of the Valleys Volunteer?
“I now have lots of experience working on the till and dealing with customers. I think I have good customer service skills and I have been told my telephone manner is second to none. I know how the shop floor operates so I can step into any role and will always give 100%”
What do you enjoy most about being a Hospice of the Valleys Volunteer?
“I enjoy the regular routine and structure of my volunteering week. I really look forward to the social interactions with customers. Volunteering allows me to meet friends and new people. My social and communication skills have improved and my self confidence has grown. Being a volunteer with the Hospice gives me a sense of belonging. I feel I am part of a team and not just a volunteer”.
Do you recommend volunteering with Hospice of the Valleys?
“It has been a positive and rewarding experience to be a volunteer with the Hospice. I have seen changes in the Ebbw Vale shop over the years. Staff and Volunteers have changed, a delivery service has been put in place and using we are now using new technology. I would definitely recommend volunteering in a Hospice of the Valleys shop or elsewhere in the charity.
