When someone is diagnosed with a life-limiting condition, every day matters. At Hospice of the Valleys, we are here to help people across Blaenau Gwent live as well as possible, for as long as possible.
Our care and support can begin much earlier than many people expect. From the moment of diagnosis, through treatment and its challenges, and when needed into end-of-life care and bereavement, we are alongside patients and their loved ones every step of the way.
We offer a wide range of services shaped around each person’s priorities, needs and circumstances. Find out how we can support you or someone you love.
Ron has been supported by the Hospice over a number of years following his motor neurone disease diagnosis. At first, he was unsure about accepting support because he was frightened of what hospice care might mean for him.
“I had pre-conceived ideas that hospice care meant the end. I didn’t realise they could support me to live well through my diagnosis.”
Many people do not realise that Hospice of the Valleys is a charity. Last year, we received around 30% of our funding from the NHS and Welsh Government, yet it costs £2.5 million each year to provide our services free of charge to the Blaenau Gwent community.
The support we receive from our local community is vital to sustaining our services now and in the future. Find out more about the ways you can support Hospice of the Valleys.
