Hospice of the Valleys would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our Annual General Meeting today. The AGM provided an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the past year, share our plans for the future, and celebrate the people whose dedication makes our work possible.
The meeting was also an opportunity to recognise the remarkable contribution of Mathew Morris Parker, who has completed more than eight years of service as a Trustee of Hospice of the Valleys.
During his time with the hospice, Mathew served as Vice Chair and Chair of the Income Generation Committee, helping to guide the organisation through a period of significant growth and change. His leadership played a key role in transforming our retail operations, developing new income streams, expanding our reach, and embracing digital opportunities. More recently, he has also been a strong supporter of the hospice's rebrand and ongoing development.
Speaking at the AGM, Chief Executive Grant Usmar said:
"I would like to extend our sincere thanks to our Vice Chair, Mathew Morris Parker, for his outstanding contribution to Hospice of the Valleys over more than eight years as a trustee.
During this time, Mathew has chaired our Income Generation Committee, helping to transform our retail operations, grow income and reach new customers. His expertise in marketing and social media has also been invaluable in raising our profile and championing the work of the hospice.
Although Mathew is stepping down as a trustee, we are delighted that he will remain involved through our ongoing partnership delivering business networking breakfasts in Blaenau Gwent.
Thank you, Mathew, for your commitment, expertise and the lasting contribution you have made to Hospice of the Valleys."
Reflecting on his time with the hospice, Mathew said:
"It has been a privilege to serve as a Trustee, Vice Chair, and Chair of the Income Generation Committee over the past eight years.
During that time, I have been proud to support the Hospice through a period of growth and change, from developing our retail operations and exploring new income streams to embracing digital opportunities and, most recently, our rebrand.
As I step down from the Board, I do so with confidence in the Hospice's future and gratitude to the many staff, volunteers, and fellow Trustees who have been part of this journey.
Thank you all."
While Mathew's term as a Trustee has come to an end, we are delighted that he will continue to be part of the Hospice of the Valleys family through our ongoing partnership delivering business networking breakfasts across Blaenau Gwent.
On behalf of our Trustees, staff, volunteers, supporters and the communities we serve, we thank Mathew for his dedication, leadership and unwavering commitment over the past eight years. His contribution has helped strengthen Hospice of the Valleys and leaves a lasting legacy that will benefit patients and families for years to come.
We would also like to thank everyone who joined us at the AGM and for your continued support of Hospice of the Valleys. Together, we can continue providing compassionate care, comfort and support to local people when they need it most. 💚
