Please join us this December for a very special Light up a Life Service as we fill the Valleys with light and song in proud memory of those loved ones we so dearly miss.

We invite you and your loved ones to join us on Tuesday 5th December here at the day centre for our poignant, uplifting Light up a Life Service.

Our special, poignant, uplifting event will begin at 6pm in the grounds of our Hospice at Festival Drive. You will be greeted by the heart-warming sounds of Abergavenny Borough Band, followed by a short service of readings and reflections. We are delighted this year to be able to welcome the incredible and uplifting voices of Cân Aderyn Singers who will be leading us in song.

At the end of our short service we will all gather round our wonderful Christmas tree as we switch on the lights, each light shining brightly in memory of someone very special. We very much hope you and your loved ones will choose to be with us and stay to enjoy warming refreshments following the service.

Spaces are limited so if you are planning to attend please can you let us know.

Light up a Life like everything we offer to our community is provided completely free and without obligation. But each year it is a tough challenge to find the money needed to pay for the care local people need as they reach the end of their lives. Many people still don’t realise we are a charity and we only receive enough government and Health Board support to cover a small part of our care. In fact, the entire care costs of 3 out of every 5 patients we support are paid for from voluntary donations from supporters like you.

The truth is, we can only continue to support people in our local community of Blaenau Gwent at the most vulnerable time in their lives if local people continue to support us.

Therefore when you make your dedication to your loved one as part of our Light up a Life campaign, we would be so grateful if you could make a donation to support the work of our clinical teams over the Christmas period. As they continue to support patients and families to make special memories over the festive period.

You can either make your dedication directly onto our virtual tree by clicking here or by contact us, either way we will ensure that your dedication appears on our virtual tree and also in our special book of remembrance.

Sadly, Kay will be remembering her Mam and sister this Christmas, who were both supported by the Hospice in recent times.

The Hospice looked after my Mam and sister as if they were their own family. Their care is simply incredible”.

Your kind gift will help ensure the Hospice is there to continue supporting  families like Kay’s, making sure they have the care and support they deserve, when they need it the most.
