SUMMARY:The Big Stay Awake
DESCRIPTION:Could you give up a night’s sleep to help raise vital funds for the Hospice? \nDo you love your sleep\, or are you someone who counts sheep most nights before you drift off!  Either way would you give it up for just one night to help raise funds for our Hospice at Home Service. \nWe want to shine a light on the incredible work our Health Care Assistant’s do\, supporting patients and their carer’s at home\, normally sitting with them overnight to make sure the carer can get some much needed rest and a good nights sleep\, secure in the knowledge that their loved one is being well looked after. \nThe service is generally provided when patients are nearing the end of life\, when carers are in crisis\, when patients have uncontrolled symptoms or have been rapidly discharged from hospital\, therefore it is a fundamental and much relied upon aspect of the Hospice’s services. \nBe part of the Hospice’s first Big Stay Awake! \n \nRegistration is free and pledge to give up one night’s sleep between the 15th and 21st February 2021\, just like our Health Care Assistants do most nights.  Any sponsorship you raise will help us continue to provide this service and help prevent carer crisis. \nYou can do your stay awake however you want.  Why not arrange a movie marathon or binge watch your favourite box sets on Netflix. \nHowever\, you choose to do yours\, make sure it’s safe and within the government guidelines. \nWe can give you hints and tips on how to maximise your fundraising and help raise as many hours of Hospice at Home Care as possible! \nLast year it cost £154\,186 to provide our Hospice at Home Service \nOn average a night shift is 9 hours long – which costs £112.23 – this works out at £12.47 per hour. \nCould you give up one night’s sleep and see how many hours of Hospice at Home support you could raise in sponsorship! \nIncentive Prize!!! \nWe want to reward you for your fundraising efforts and so all those who manage to raise £112.23 or more will be entered into a draw to win £200 of vouchers to put towards an overnight stay at a luxury hotel!! \nThe difference your support will make: \nThe demand for our Hospice at Home Service has continued to grow year on year and during the beginning of the pandemic there was an even greater need for the service\, following a reduction in Social Care packages of care especially for people not living alone.  This put a lot of pressure on family carers in our community due to the intensity of the lock-down. \nWe endeavoured to deliver a business-as-usual service whilst seeing an uplift in demand as we tried to stop carer and patient crisis. \n \nThis is the difference the service makes to our patients and their carers. \n“The night sitters that cared for mum overnight when she was extremely poorly and vulnerable were invaluable for both of us” (29/4/20\, Relative) \n“The whole family felt the kindness and love from your staff and the generosity in providing a bed and overnight care for her during her last days” (28/8/20 Relative) \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Let Hospice of the Valleys help your business/organisation step into Christmas this festive period with our very first Online Christmas Market. \n  \n#Supportingbusinesses  #Helpingkeeppeoplesafe  #HospiceoftheValleys \n  \nOnline Christmas Market Application Form\n\nClosing Date 22nd October \n  \n  \n  \nEveryone would agree that online shopping has become the popular choice and kept us going during lock-down. \nYou may not be able to attend your local Christmas fayres and markets because of restrictions or many have been cancelled but let’s take the opportunity to bring an Online Christmas Market right to the comfort of your shoppers own home! \n  \n \n  \nPeople may have reservations about physically going out and Christmas shopping or indeed may be in local lock-down and unable too. \nThis is a great way to take some of that stress away and help keep people safe\, as they can cosy up on the sofa\, in the comfort of their own home\, nice cuppa\, heating on and dry and browse away for a whole month of uninterrupted shopping – perfect!  And what’s more\, you’re helping the Hospice to be there for those who need us most during these unprecedented and very challenging times to come. \n  \n \n  \nThe Hospice Online Christmas Market will run for an entire month\, from 1st November until 30th November 2020\, giving shoppers the chance to view\, purchase\, tell their friends and shop some more. \n  \n \n  \nHere at the Hospice we understand that many businesses and organisations have struggled and are continuing to do so during these unprecedented times.   We hope that this is a way to be able to show our support and help the local businesses and organisations in our community and further afield. \n  \nAs a Vendor\, the Christmas Market is the ideal platform to promote your business or organisation\, sell your products and in turn show your support for Hospice of the Valleys. \n  \n \n  \n  \nWhat the Hospice will do to promote this event;\n  \nTargeted posts on Facebook and other social media platforms to our thousands of followers \nPress release within the local press. \nOnline Christmas Market posters displayed in our Hospice shops together with flyers for shoppers. \nPromotion of the Online Christmas Market through our email communications and event link included on our email signature box. \n  \n  \nTaking into consideration the current challenging financial climate for everyone\, we are offering a very competitive Vendor fee of £10 for the month. \n  \nWe kindly ask that you would consider a discount to our shoppers who click through and purchase from your shop\, by using a specific discount code.  This would also help us track the success of this event. \n  \nWe would love to have you on board and part of this special event\, our first Online Christmas Market.\n  \nPlease read our full Terms and Conditions prior to completing your application. \n  \n\n  \nTo apply for a Vendor’s space\, please click below to complete your application.  If you require further information\, please do not hesitate to contact Amanda on 01495 717277 or by email fundraising@hospiceofthevalleys.com \n  \nOnline Christmas Market Application Form\n \nClosing Date 22nd October \n \n  \n  \nHospice of the Valleys needs you!\nThe enormity of the impact of COVID-19 on all of us is undeniable and Hospice of the Valleys has been and continues to be affected by this pandemic.  The majority of our events and campaigns have either been cancelled or deferred and our shops faced a long period of closure\, all having a massive impact on income generation. \nWith that\, we have had to be creative in exploring alternative ways to generate income.  We have been able to offer some campaigns and events virtually and this is why the Online Christmas Market is more vital than ever! \n  \nWhilst our doors may not have been physically open\, we were quick to implement new ways of delivering our much-needed support.  Our dedicated Nurses and Family Support Teams have been working tirelessly to ensure they are providing as many of our specialised services through where possible face-to-face visits\, phone calls and zoom interactions to patients and their loved ones and reaching out to partners and providing emotional and bereavement support to care home staff. \n  \nMany of our patients are immune compressed and have an increased vulnerability.  COVID-19 restrictions and isolation has seen access to some additional services removed for our patients resulting in heightened levels of anxiety.  Our Clinical Teams have continued to be there so support their mental and emotional well-being and in some sad cases\, making sure patients do no die alone. \n  \nYour support is needed now more than ever to help us continue to be there for our patients\, loved ones in the worrying winter months to come –Thank You!

DESCRIPTION:Go The Extra Mile Challenge has certainly done that!  Challenge Complete! \n  \nOur amazing Go The Extra Mile supporters have gone even further and have so far collectively raised over £3\,500 and covered a distance of over 1\,200 miles and still counting! \nWe are so proud of everyone who took part in this month long challenge!  This was our first attempt of organising a longer virtual challenge and we couldn’t be more happier. \nNot only has an incredible amount of money been raised but also we have heard so many personal targets achieved and smashed\, people journeys and pushing their limits not to mention some of the beautiful scenery and our extended friends across the globe. \nA heart felt thank you to everyone who has supported this challenge – the real superheroes out there that allows the Hospice to continue to do what it does best\, providing support to patients living with a life limiting illness and their loved ones.  We couldn’t do it without you!
